I'm Richard Ransom, and Live Dye is the place I've created to showcase the work we do in fabric arts, and to help you learn how to do beautiful tie-dyes yourself! We hope you'll love our work enough to want to buy one, and this page is the gateway to some of our newest tie-dyes. We're also running a Big Sale to clear our early inventory to make room for more creativity – help us bring more beauty and fun to the world and save money too!
Our Newest Cutting-Edge Shirts!
I'm especially excited about our new line of charitable garments: They're sourced from the Salvation Army and Volunteers of America thrift stores – but don't fret, they're all new or like-new with no wear. We took this step because we couldn't find suitable new blanks, and we wanted to give something back to the community with every sale. We applied our newest and most innovative discharge and vat dye techniques to turn plain garments to fine art – buy one, wear it, and you'll be a walking art gallery, fashion sophisticate, and charitable giver all at once!
New Spaghetti-Strap Cocktail Dresses!
I'm love our new line of dresses: They're very comfortable all-cotton spaghetti-strap cocktail dresses. We've started with black ones and applied our discharge and vat dye techniques to make complex, beautiful, and sophisticated art pieces suitable for any occasion, casual or formal. Unfortunately the supplier of the black dress blanks no longer carries them, so we can only offer tie-dyes – but of course they're even more beautiful!
New T-Shirt Series! the Large-Mouth Bass, Blues, Black & Blues, Brights, and Zorples
We've made beautiful new lines of tie-dyed t-shirts, including the whimsical Bass shirts, the dramatic Blue (and Red) series, the exciting Black & Blue (or Black & Gray) pieces, the colorful Brights, and the inimitable Zorples. New Camisoles, Lab Coats, and Infant Tees!
We're just starting to explore camisoles, and on this page you can see the Camisoles we've discharged and dyed. We've started with black ones and applied our discharge and vat dye techniques to make some lovely designs. We'll be adding some blue camisoles treated similarly, and we're getting in some white ones that wil explode with our colors! We also bought a few all-cotton, heavyweight, high-quality Lab Coats for another project, and we're showcasing them here. And we also did a few Infant Tees, check them out!

High Quality, High Art, and Charitable to Boot!
I'm absolutely thrilled about our newest work with a wide variety of garments purchased from local charities. They came out of my difficulties finding suitable blanks (the rag trade term for new, undyed garments). I worked with Chinese manufacturers, but they were either uninterested in selling at low volumes, were undependable – or, worst of all, the quality of the garments was poor. I've also wanted to support local non-profits, but could hardly afford to as a startup company. So I shopped the many thrift stores in the Columbus area, and found my source.
You may be wary of buying a garment that came from the Salvation Army or Volunteers of America thrift stores – but don't be! These are new or minimally used, high quality garments, and I've carefully inspected each piece to insure there is no detectable wear. Trust me, they're like new – I guarantee it, or your money back! By buying one of these pieces you're in fact donating money to reputable non-profits who do great work. Buy a Live Dye and be charitable and stylish!
